3rd World Conference on Children without Parental Care

Van 23 tot 26 oktober 2006 organiseert IAC (International Advocates for Children) in Den Haag de '3rd Annual World Conference on Children without Parental Care'. IAC is een internationale kinderenrechtenorganisatie, die opkomt voor weeskinderen en in de steekgelaten kinderen wereldwijd.

Onder voorzitterschap van Maarten Brekelmans, lanceert IAC naast de wereldconferentie, tevens het initiatief voor de oprichting van de World Council for Children without Parental Care, een internationaal kennisnetwerk en communicatieplatform rond weeskinderenonderzoek en kinderbescherming.

Dit Nederlandse project wordt door het VN-Comité inzake de Rechten van het Kind gesteund. Zes leden van dit belangrijke comité, inclusief de voorzitter prof. dr. Jaap Doek, spreken op de wereldconferentie. Jan Pronk, speciaal vertegenwoordiger van de VN in Soedan, heeft zitting in het Comité van Aanbeveling.

U kunt deelnemen aan diverse workshops, plenaire debatten en presentaties. De conferentie biedt ruime gelegenheid om kennis uit te wisselen en knelpunten naar voren te brengen betreffende deze kinderen.
