#1: Little Request from an Austrian Law Student Auteur: soinky BerichtGeplaatst: wo 05 mrt 2008 11:42
    —
Hello,

first off, I apologise for using English, but my Dutch is really, really dreadful. Anyway, I study Law in Austria and that is how I came across the link to this forum, but actually, I am looking for ANY student of the University of Groningen, who would be willing to get me some material from the library.

I would gladly pay for your time and effort.

(Yes, I have tried an Interlibrary Loan Request, unfortunately the documentary I want is not being loaned to international students - or loaned at all, it is only available at the library itself)

As I said, I am willing to pay, and I hope someone can help me, as I have been unable to find that documentary anywhere else. If you're interested, please write me a PM.

Thanks in advance!

P.S. If this post is inappropriate in its entirety, I apologise, please delete.

The post is not inappropriate at all, soinky.
I hope that somebody has already contacted you. Unfortunately I can not help you, as I study in Rotterdam.

What is the article or book that you are looking for? Are you surethey do not have it at other universities?

It's not an article or book; it's a TV documentary on DVD, which apparently was recorded by a local teacher - I've tried worldcat as well as searching several other library catalogues which aren't included in Worldcat, also I've searched for any release/even contacted the producers - alas, all without luck.

It's more of an obsession, really - I want to use part of it for an Uni presentation, and the fact that it IS available and out there, but I can't get at it nags at me Wink

Our university library has it available but only for use in the library itself. So for me it's impossible to get it.

Thank you very much for the attempt, anyway?

My request still stands, though, but it seems it'd need to be someone with their own laptop. If anyone could help, I'd really appreciate it (and as I said, would also be willing to pay for your time and effort)

But either way, I am really grateful for the welcome I've received here and the kind people. All the best for all of you!

Well, maybe contacting that particular teacher might be an idea, as that person might have a copy for you.

I can certainly recommend a visit to Groningen! Very Happy

I wish I KNEW which teacher it was - it's just a suspicion of mine, because that's the only explanation I have for Groningen being the ONLY Uni which has it available.

I'd certainly love to go to Groningen myself - probably the easiest solution, too, but unfortunately, a rather pricey trip from Vienna to Groningen (and with my luck, I'd arrive during Library holidays. LOL!) But it's an ultima ratio option, I suppose Wink

You said it is a TV documentary. Plase inform us about the title and all details that you have about it, so that we might try to find another way to get it.

Thank you very much! If anyone is able to find it, they'd certainly earn my eternal gratitude!

The documentary is called "Essential Byron" and was produced by Daisy Goodwin, and aired 2003 on the BBC. It's about the poet Lord Byron and lasts about 30 minutes.

Well, we start with some clips:D

But it seems that
Quote:
The Essential Byron documentary is not available, unless it is included as part of the DVD of the drama Byron (2003), which it was meant to accompany. Byron is out on Region 2 DVD through Amazon (UK).

Here is the link to that. Or for more European prices click here. But better doublecheck if that documentary comes with it.

Thanks for the research, but I've got both the Richard Coyle clips (which unfortunately are not the part I want), as well as the Byron drama DVD (which does NOT include the documentary, sadly, I bought it on Ebay months ago when I first heard about it)

Have you already contacted the BBC? They might be so kind to send you a copy of the DVD if you explain why you need it.

Tried that too, sadly without success - they told me they can't send any archive recordings of programs that haven't been officially released, as they own only the broadcast rights.
